it hurts to see yourself fall, doesnt it?
but it hurts a thousand times more to see your loved ones go down fighting, and not be able to do anything about it.
i think back to those happy days, and i wonder how we could have been so blind to this fault. wasn't the pain of seeing one friend go down harsh enough, that we could happily sit and bask in our own joy without attempting to change the system in any way? for years, everyone's said that the process is flawed, that it isn't fair, yet how come no one bothered to do anything about it? were the two of us just so arrogant and delightful in our own success, we failed to realise the implications of letting such a biased system pass judgement on our juniors?
we realised our mistake too late, but we weren't the ones that paid the ultimate price.
i'm more sorry, than i could ever say.
